Porterbrook specialises in the leasing and asset management of all types of railway rolling stock and associated equipment. Based in Derby with a corporate Head Office in London and its new Rail Innovation Centre at Long Marston, the organisation is undertaking a period of transformational change as it responds to the changing landscape in rail.
**About the team**
**Responsibilities**
- Strive to achieve Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration as supported by Porterbrook in order to enhance personal and professional development
- Support day-to-day administration and such other activities within the department, and assist colleagues in their duties
- Develop within an apprenticeship setting all the necessary, sometimes unique, skills and competencies necessary to support future development within the department and within the wider business
Assimilate knowledge and proficiency in the following:
- Heavy Maintenance (HM) Planning concepts - Know why and how we plan level 5 heavy maintenance on our vehicles.
- Scheduling of HM events in our Asset Management System - Learn how we create plans, involve key stakeholders, adapt them as necessary, and the importance of accurate scheduling of events in Oracle Enterprise Asset Management (eAM).
- Event processing - Process HM events within eAM. Liaising with customers/suppliers, providing Work Completion documentation through to Purchase Orders to enable payment. Complete events, understanding the trigger for ‘next’ event planning and concepts of Whole Life Maintenance. Monitor return of signed Work completion statements within the department
- Maintenance of Common User Spreadsheets (CUS) - Update CUS to mirror/map/ control process flow of events in eAM
- System Knowledge - eAM, Industry & IT systems

General Requirements:
The planning apprentice should be motivated to succeed in a career within the rail industry in the longer term, be personable and with high level of attendance, carry out their duties in a thorough and professional manner, having consideration for others, all being aligned with Porterbrook’s Vision & Values.
Qualifications:
- Pre-requisite qualifications to allow entry to Level 3 Diploma
- English & Mathematics at GCSE
Knowledge:
- Some knowledge of the rail industry
- Basic IT literacy/competency
- Team ethics
Key Skills:
- Diligence
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a team environment
- Innovative and working with initiative
- Comfortable with procedural requirements/business process
