We have an exciting new opportunity for a Peer Support and Volunteer Coordinator to join our inspiring and friendly Bristol Community team. Your role will be a permanent position, working part time, 21 hours per week based in the service. Our Bristol Community service provides 1:1 targeted support, telephone support and the development of peer support groups and peer/volunteer supporters. We believe that peer support can be used as a tool to aid in an individual’s recovery journey. We support people to build their own skills, confidence and resilience, reducing their reliance on services in the future. We work with diverse groups including those with learning or physical disabilities, dementia, older people, carers, young people as well those with a mental illness. Who are we? As a new role, you will focus on making our volunteering and peer support strategy a reality within the Bristol Community Support Service. This will involve: Identifying and managing Peer facilitators and volunteers, matching them to roles, providing training, 1:1 support and supervision. Working closely with the Service Manager and Team of Group Development Workers to map needs, priorities, and co-ordinate timescales for management of induction of new Peers & volunteers. Devising a programme of events and activities tailored to promoting Peer network including succession planning to ensure a sustainable approach to our Group Development & Network offer. Enabling the Group development workers to grow peer support that provide safe spaces for people to meet in their local community. Identifying support needs or adjustments that will enable people with lived experience to become peer facilitators. Developing relationships with local volunteer bureau and networks to promote our volunteering and groups programme. Ensuring appropriate administration processes are in place and up to date to track, engage and communicate with our peers & volunteers. Do you have what we are looking for? Experience co-ordinating all aspects of the volunteer journey including recruiting volunteers through a range of channels and supporting volunteers to deliver their roles successfully. Successful track record of effective working alongside Peers & volunteers including use of supervision, coaching techniques. Experience of facilitating groups and delivering training to groups or individuals. An understanding of engagement strategies with ability to initiate and develop links with difficult to reach communities. Knowledge of risk assessment, identify potential risk and managing / mitigating risks. IT literate with working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office programs and experience of accurate data entry to databases.
