**Job Overview**

We are a new nursery opening in New Milton in April 2025. This role is crucial in fostering the development of children aged 0-5 years, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and growth through engaging activities.

**Duties include**:

- Create a happy, safe, inclusive, caring, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children to play, learn and discover
- Support learning through play to enable all children in our care to reach their full potential
- Encourage/support children to develop social skills
- Support/feed children at meal and snack times, preparing bottles, changing nappies
- Responsibility for a small group of children as a Key Person - getting to know them, their needs and interests
- Communicate effectively with children, parents/carers, and colleagues to build strong relationships.
- Observe, monitor and assess children’s progress and maintain accurate records of their development
- Contribute to planning age appropriate activities for children’s learning and development
- Maintain health and safety standards at all times, ensuring a clean and safe environment for children.
- Share duties such as food preparation, setting up/tidying up and cleaning/sterilising equipment and furniture
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
- Go outdoors in all weather to explore and learn with the children.

**Additional expectations**
- Attending and participating in training and team meetings
- Be prepared to have an enhanced DBS check carried out

**Skills and experience**
- A level 2 or level 3 early years qualification and proven experience in a childcare setting
- A genuine holistic interest in the care and development of children attending the setting
- Patient and nurturing approach suited to the development stage of the children
- Good behaviour/attitude management strategies and language
- Motivated and enthusiastic
- Committed to safeguarding
- Warm, friendly and welcoming
- A sense of fun and an imaginative approach to learning
- Good time-keeping
- Confidence using technology for recording development and recordkeeping
- Have current, or be prepared to gain, certification in pediatric first aid, safeguarding, health and safety and food hygiene
- A good listener and communicator with people of all ages
