Chair of Cornwall Butterfly Conservation
If you care about the natural environment and are concerned about loss of biodiversity, then this is the job for you. In the voluntary role of Chair of Cornwall Butterfly Conservation, you will make a positive, measurable impact on wildlife in Cornwall. Butterflies are key indicators of the health of the environment. Under your leadership, the Branch will protect butterflies and moths, to safeguard Cornish wildlife and wild spaces for future generations.
We are looking for a Chair to lead the Cornwall Branch in helping us to create a world where butterflies and moths are enjoyed by everyone, forever. Through carefully prioritised and practical activities, the Branch monitors butterfly and moth populations across the County, conserves some of the UK's rarest species of butterfly in Cornwall, and raises public awareness of its work.
A natural team-player, you are well organised and good at motivating people. You will be effective in developing good working relationships with volunteers, local landowners, conservation bodies and Butterfly Conservation staff. You have a good working knowledge of Lepidoptera, you have access to the internet and have the use of a car.
You can carry out the role of Branch Chair from home anywhere in Cornwall. Branch Committee meetings, chaired by you, are held four times a year at the Cornwall Wildlife Trust offices at Allet TR4 9DJ. In addition, there is a programme of events throughout the year across the County, some of which you may choose to attend.
Please note: as Branch Chair, you will lead the Branch Committee, and consequently be a member of Butterfly Conservation. In return, your first year's membership will be free.
Whilst Cornwall Butterfly Conservation has no independent legal status, it is a formally constituted branch of Butterfly Conservation, a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee.
