Branch Treasurer
In the voluntary role of Branch Treasurer of Cornwall Butterfly Conservation, you will play a key role in supporting the work of the Cornwall Branch. No knowledge of Lepidoptera is required, but an interest in the natural environment might be a motivator for you.
A natural team-player, you are well organised and at home with figures. You are familiar with Excel spreadsheets and basic accounting practice, you have access to the internet and have the use of a car.
As Branch Treasurer, you monitor income and expenditure locally, liaising with the Finance Department of Butterfly Conservation Head Office, which controls the branch’s bank accounts, and assist in preparing year-end accounts in March. Working with the Branch Committee, you create a budget to inform decisions taken by the Committee to ensure that expenditure and income are on track. You process invoices for approval and submission to Head Office for payment and are responsible for overseeing sales of the book, Butterflies of Cornwall: Atlas for the Twenty-first Century published by the branch in 2021.
You can carry out the role of Branch Treasurer from home anywhere in Cornwall. Branch Committee meetings, that you attend and to which you submit financial reports, are held four times a year at the Cornwall Wildlife Trust offices at Allet TR4 9DJ.
Please note: as Treasurer, you will join the Branch Committee, and be a member of Butterfly Conservation. In return, your first year's membership will be free.
Whilst Cornwall Butterfly Conservation has no independent legal status, it is a formally constituted branch of Butterfly Conservation, a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee.
