Basic Counsellor

An opportunity has arisen for a Counsellor to work as part of the Barnsley Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Team (IAPT).
Applicants are required to have a Graduate Diploma or a Degree in therapeutic counselling, and have previous experience of working as a Counsellor within a mental health setting
The post holder will be based at Cudworth but also expected to work in the community.
The post holder will be required to provide counselling services to a broad range of service users who experience mild to moderate mental health problems that would benefit from counselling. The post holder will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team comprising of counsellors, psychotherapists, psychological wellbeing practitioners and trainees within the different disciplines. The service will offer support to the successful applicant in respect of their professional development and supervision will be given in line with BACP requirements. Part of the role will be to contribute to the development of the counselling service and to raise the awareness of the benefits of counselling to other mental health professionals.
The post holder will be required to undertake and complete the counselling for depression training at the first possible opportunity.
**Please note the working pattern for this position is 37.5 hours per week.**
