**Role title**: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

**Reports to**: Executive Headteachers’

**Location**: Wallasey, Wirral

**Salary starting from**: £40,000

**About Role**
As a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational needs of children with special needs across our schools in Greater Manchester. This will be achieved through the effective leadership and management of teaching practices, the development and implementation of tailored interventions, and the provision of guidance and support to staff.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead and manage teaching staff, ensuring high standards of student behaviour, engagement, and achievement, especially for students with SEN/SEMH.
- Monitor and adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
- Develop independent study skills and promote a culture of self-directed learning.
- Share effective SEN teaching strategies and provide professional development for staff.
- Lead training on SEN and interventions for staff, including teachers and support staff.
- Oversee day-to-day management of teaching programs and curriculum delivery.
- Line manage teachers and support staff, fostering a high-performance team culture.
- Develop strong links with local schools, agencies, and settings to ensure smooth transitions for pupils.
- Track and assess pupil progress using data to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
- Ensure the timely and accurate update of IEPs and other support plans.
- Manage safeguarding procedures and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Collaborate with parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective support for students.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience, ideally in an alternative provision or SEMH setting.
- SENCO qualification required.
- Additional relevant qualifications or training in SEN/SEMH desirable
