Kitchen Fitter

**Job description**

A Kitchen Fitter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for installing, assembling, and fitting kitchen units and appliances. Their job involves ensuring that the design, functionality, and aesthetics of the kitchen are met according to the client’s specifications and the overall design plan.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Kitchen Installation: Install kitchen units, cabinets, countertops, and integrated appliances (ovens, dishwashers, fridges, etc.).

Fit sinks, taps, and other plumbing fixtures, ensuring proper connections to water supply and drainage systems.

Assemble and install kitchen furniture, such as units, shelves, and cupboards.

Measuring and Planning: Take accurate measurements of the space to ensure that kitchen units fit properly. Interpret architectural drawings and kitchen designs to determine the best layout and placement for units, appliances, and fittings.

Electrical and Plumbing Work: Install electrical appliances (cookers, microwaves, etc.) and ensure that wiring meets safety regulations.

Work with electricians and plumbers as required for tasks like electrical connections, water supply, and drainage.

Customization: Make adjustments to units to fit the specific dimensions of the kitchen space, ensuring the best use of available space.

Trim and shape units to fit awkward spaces and features (e.g., around windows, doors, or other architectural details).

Quality Control: Ensure that all installations are completed to a high standard and comply with safety regulations.

Double-check measurements and make necessary adjustments to avoid errors during the installation process.

Customer Interaction: Liaise with clients to discuss their preferences and ensure that their vision for the kitchen is realized.

Provide advice on materials, finishes, and layouts to enhance the overall kitchen design.

Post-Installation Services: Carry out final checks and provide aftercare to ensure everything is functioning correctly.

Repair or replace damaged units if necessary.

**Tool Maintenance**:Maintain and clean tools and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency on the job.

Skills and Qualifications:
Technical skills: Knowledge of kitchen designs, plumbing, and electrical installations.

Attention to detail: Ability to measure accurately and ensure a perfect fit for all components.

Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the fitting process.

Manual dexterity: Skilled in using hand tools and power tools.

Physical fitness: The role can be physically demanding, requiring lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

Experience: Previous experience in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work is often required, especially in custom installations.

Work Environment:
Kitchen fitters may work independently or as part of a team. They typically work in residential properties, but may also be involved in commercial kitchen installations. Jobs may vary in length depending on the size and complexity of the kitchen, with some projects taking several days or even weeks to complete.

**Additional Qualifications**:
Apprenticeships or vocational training: Many kitchen fitters complete an apprenticeship or specialized training in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work.

Health and safety knowledge: Understanding of building codes and safety regulations is crucial.

This role requires a balance of technical expertise, customer service, and attention to detail to ensure that every kitchen fitting is completed to the highest standard.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: £32,736.00-£35,661.00 per year

Expected hours: 10 - 36 per week
