**Who we are**

LATCH is a charity that supports children, young people and their families who have received a cancer or leukaemia diagnosis and are under the care of the Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff.

LATCH was established back in 1982 and has supported thousands of children and families over the past forty years. Today, the charity continues to grow and develop, supporting an average of 120 families at any one time through the provision of services including financial grants, social work service, events and activities for families and home-from-home accommodation for families at the Children’s Hospital for Wales.

LATCH works in partnership with the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) and this post is offered as a contract of employment on a fixed-term basis under the terms and conditions of CAVUHB.

**Job overview**

Head of Operations is an exciting new role for LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity.

As the Head of Operations, the post holder will play a pivotal senior leadership role leading the charity’s operations, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance and transforming the organisation’s digital capabilities.

The Head of Operations will deputise for the Chief Executive in their absence and contribute to the direction and strategic management of the organisation, supporting the development and implementation of the charity’s corporate plan and annual operational plans.

The post holder will be responsible for the planning and performance of operations and oversee LATCH’s facilities management, financial management and human resources functions. You will be responsible for the LATCH operations and services staff and other staff as needs arise. You will play a key role in sustaining strong and positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and manage the charity’s grants management process.

You will promote high professional standards whilst upholding and embedding quality and safety across the charity.

The post holder will be:

- Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote and develop a culture of a learning organisation and continuous development.
- Ensure that quality standards are met, maintaining a consistently high standard of patient care and ensuring the families are at the centre of all initiatives.
- Be a role model, demonstrating strong leadership behaviours and competencies to drive operational quality improvement
- Work in close collaboration with UHB departments, internal and external stakeholders to ensure high standards are met across the organisation.

**About you**

You will be passionate about the mission of LATCH and the importance of the charity in making a difference to the lives of children, young people and their families affected by cancer or leukaemia. You will have excellent leadership and organisational skills and reflect the organisational values of LATCH and CAVUHB.

You will be experienced in operational management and have experience in leading, managing, supporting and motivating staff. You will be able to evidence successful management of change or service modernisation, including digital change projects.

Additionally you will have experience in financial management and able to demonstrate a track record of developing and implementing organisational policies, processes and controls.

You will be an individual with a positive outlook, who promotes high professional standards whilst upholding and embedding quality and safety across the charity. You will have knowledge and appreciation of relevant laws, regulations, good practice standards and regulators relating to the voluntary sector.
