The Role

If you were to join us as a General Sales Manager here is what you want to know.

**Salary**: £55,000 + bonus + Car

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 5 days out of 7 on a rota. This will include the weekend when we experience our busiest days.

Location: Ipswich

Due to the nature of the role, we will require you to have held a driving licence for more than a year

Our General Sales Managers are responsible for the leadership of our retail sites and be key to driving our business growth through sales by coaching and motivating teams to deliver success. As a General Sales Manager you will lead and inspire the team to deliver high levels of customer service and Motorpoint’s strategy across the site.

You are responsible for effectively managing your sites sales function to ensure best practice is followed, process and compliance, costs are controlled, and the site generates and contributes to the operating profit increasing the value added to the company.

You will actively promote best practice throughout the site; including the general running of Sales compliance and process, Customer KPIs, Site H&S regulations, working with all department management to align to the Company strategy and Business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for communicating the business priorities and cascades regularly all information to the teams, using methods including All hands meetings, weekly team meeting.
Create a coaching performance culture across the sales team by empowering the all the Sales management team to deliver personal goals.
Hold regular monthly 1:1’s to get to know their team, sets objectives to drive sales and profitability and provides regular feedback.
Embrace Diversity and Inclusion and plays your part in the Motorpoint ED&I agenda
Create a high performance and development culture, highlights horizons using the 9-box talent grid
Create the best company to work for by recognising and rewarding team members for their contribution.
Keep up to date with competitors’ activities and initiatives and makes the right commercial decisions to grow your site.
Understands and be aware of local market and competition, anticipates changing customer needs and coaches your sales teams to understand their opportunities for growth.
Monitor and responds to customer feedback throughout the sites and identify any trends.
Create and drive and own plans which are aligned to our company strategy.
Ensures the site operates in a safe, secure, and legal way and takes action to understand areas of improvement.
Creates commitment and compliance in their teams to avoid unnecessary risk and mitigate safety challenges.
Strives for continuous improvement, benchmarking themselves against personal bests.

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify opportunities to innovate and improve.
Strong verbal and numerical analytical ability
Good communication skills to question, listen, interpret, and explain concepts.
Good presentation skills to various audiences
Willing and able to travel to our operations sites throughout the UK as and when required
A friendly, confident, and approachable disposition.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate a remote team whilst encouraging, empowering, and trusting others to deliver results.
Experience of building relationships at all levels and balanced emotional intelligence
Demonstrates values led leadership, builds great working relationships, inspires colleagues and key stakeholders at all levels.
Experienced in leading high performing teams.
