Title: Engagement Worker - Early Intervention and Prevention

**Salary**: £22,342.72- £24,470.60

The main purpose of this role is to act as a keyworker delivering packages of support with families, adults and whole households to prevent escalation to more intensive services. Through undertaking an Early Help assessment and by working with clients in a person-centred way, you will help people on your caseload to make positive changes and to develop the skills to manage their issues in the future.

Our training, partnership links and excellent management support will help you to develop the skills and knowledge required to address a wide range of issues including mental health, debts, housing, relationships and parenting.

We value agile working so you will sometimes be working from home, in our central Oldham office, in clients’ homes, community settings and with a range of partners.

For this role you will need to be confident in caseload management and the use of electronic recording systems.

**MAIN PRIORITIES**
- The main purpose of this role is to deliver holistic, bespoke packages of support to individuals and households of all ages in Oldham.
- Engagement Workers will work in a strength-focused way to undertake holistic assessments with individuals and whole households and prepare joint person-centred Action Plans addressing a wide range of underlying issues.
- Specific interventions will be carried out to support individuals to lead a positive lifestyle and reduce their dependency and involvement with other services. All assessments, action plans, interventions, client progress and outcomes will be recorded electronically. The role will involve the deployment and supervision of volunteers
- Engagement Workers will be aligned to one of the 5 cluster areas in Oldham and will work with colleagues and partners to develop a place-based offer for Oldham residents - working from a range of venues including clients’ homes.

**KEY DUTIES**
- To effectively manage a caseload of individuals and whole households/families while working within Early Intervention casework standards
- Engage with children, young people and adults who have been identified as needing support to motivate them to change their lifestyle. This will require engagement with people who have refused other services, understanding and empathising with the issues they face, and working with them to get to a point where they recognise the need to change their lifestyle, are motivated to do so and are willing to engage with services to gain the support to do so
- Undertake appropriate holistic and comprehensive assessments (including health, social, family and individual factors) with children, young people, whole families and adults to determine unmet needs. From these assessments, formulating an action plan jointly with clients, with agreed objectives to help improve outcomes in: health and wellbeing; employment and skills; educational attainment; behavior; community engagement; and other positive social outcomes
- Undertake activities and deliver evidence-based interventions with individuals and/or families which motivate them to change lifestyles and behaviors and engage with services, promote self-confidence, self-awareness and self-management which leads to a reduction in dependency on services
- Facilitate and support, where appropriate and under supervision, access to relevant specialist services
- Work with community partners and colleagues to develop an effective Early Intervention and Prevention locality offer
- Work within communities to deliver drop-in Locality Hubs, providing a range of support services and engaging individuals in the Early Intervention and Prevention offer
- Collate a wide range of information relating to the clients’ progress to support evaluation of the Early Help model and maintain accurate and contemporaneous records in line with Positive Steps’ policy and ensuring recording on client management systems is accurate and timely
- Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with contract requirements
- Demonstrate responsibility for promoting and championing all aspects of equal opportunities by valuing diversity in all areas of work
- Take responsibility for ensuring and achieving the objectives of the Positive Steps Health and Safety Policy
- Undertake any other duties in order to meet personal, team and organisational objectives following consultation with your manager

**YOU HAVE**:

- A relevant qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above
- Successfully used information technology for a range of different purposes e.g. recording case notes and data inputting
- Worked with individuals and whole households/families to challenge, support and influence them to make positive changes
- Successfully working to achieve challenging targets eg managing high caseloads, demonstrating positive outcomes with clients
- Handled highly confidential and sensitive information
- Undertaken holistic, person-centred assessments in
