The opportunity
**A Lucid Medical Editor**:
Works in close partnership with teams’ scientific and account leads to understand their projects and clients and deliver editorial excellence tailored to their needs. Medical Editors at Lucid are responsible for leading specific client accounts and contribute to the development of quality assurance processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent editorial excellence across the whole editorial team. They work closely with the Function Director and Editorial Lead to ensure quality standards are maintained across the editorial team. Our Medical Editors are responsible for:
- Performing editorial reviews of all internal or project-related materials passed through COMET (including but not limited to: articles, educational platform content, internal and external company communications, manuscripts, meeting reports, slide decks, standalone and symposium materials and website copy) in alignment with existing style guides and SOPs. Always demonstrating excellent attention to detail with every piece of work delivered to quality targets
- Leading their COMET teams / being key contact for their aligned client accounts, ensuring at all times that the appropriate communication channels are established within the client teams and COMET to ensure a good understanding of each account (clients, projects, key contacts, etc) and their priorities
- Leading the development of style guides in close collaboration with teams and ensuring adherence and alignment across the team
- Working in collaboration with the Function Director and Editorial Lead to develop quality assurance processes and SOPs to ensure consistent editorial excellence and adherence across the team
- Providing senior quality checks on peers' work alongside constructive feedback to optimise performance. Ensuring team members adhere to briefs and style guides, and use our checklists
- Supporting the Editorial Lead with the development of editorial training sessions to address any gaps identified within the team. Identifying and flagging to the Function Director any existing gaps related to training, development, support, mentoring and performance enhancement.
- Supporting COMET’s operational efficiency and performance, and their processes within Lucid Group to ensure targets are met or exceeded
- Supporting with resourcing in close collaboration with the Function Director to ensure all team members are aware of workload, deadlines and key information
- Fulfilling the role of line manager and supporting development of line reports, ensuring awareness and implementation of Lucid objective setting process and milestones
- Mentoring junior COMET team members (development and support) in their undertaking of editorial work, implementation of SOPs, and use of checklists, and other tools (such as style guides and templates) that ensure excellent editorial standards
- Assisting in the recruitment of new staff by developing and assessing test documents, supporting with interviews, and contributing to the decision-making process
- Supporting with the onboarding of new team members by providing induction sessions according to the role and individual's needs
Who we are looking for
We are looking for individuals who have the following attributes:
- Experience as an editor - minimum 5 years
- Experience in medical communications - minimum 3 years or equivalent
- Experience in mentoring and/or line management
- Excellent English language skills
- Proficiency in Adobe, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to work efficiently to tight deadlines
- Experience of project management
- Experience supporting/leading development of processes and SOPs
- Demonstrate proactivity, initiative taking, innovation and problem-solving skills
Ideally, we would also appreciate:
- Experience of working in a matrix-based team environment
- Experience of workload management
- Experience in training team members
