**Job Description**:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Claims Team Leader to join the dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of Claims Handlers and assisting the Head of Claims in overseeing the claims process. Your primary focus will be to ensure efficient investigation, handling, and settlement of claims within our delegated authority. As a member of the team, you will contribute to our culture of inclusivity and personal development, playing a pivotal role in driving the success of the claims department.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide training, coaching, and support to Claims Handlers, ensuring continuous development and monitoring performance.
- Deputize for the Head of Claims when necessary, demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Maintain and update training material and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve targets and maintain quality standards.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements, including FSA and Data Protection regulations.
- Work towards targets for both work quality/quantity and lead conversion.
- Assess the validity of claims and determine coverage while considering recovery prospects.
- Negotiate liability with third parties and manage diary/task lists for the claims department.
- Manage your own caseload efficiently, ensuring appropriate and favorable outcomes.
- Drive the progression of client claims, keeping stakeholders informed of developments.
- Handle claims across various lines of business from inception to settlement on behalf of underwriters.
- Act as a referral point for Claims Handlers, providing guidance and support.
- Contribute to the development of new products and workflows.
- Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of the claims handling system.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of insurance coverage and relevant claims processes.
- Meet strict deadlines set by the Head of Claims and work providers.
- Maintain accurate records of referral fees and payments to external parties.
- Generate management information reports and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage and resolve complaints up to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) level.
- Assist management with any necessary tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating teams, with a strong background in team management and coaching.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with individuals at all levels.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet targets and deadlines independently.
- Quick learner with the ability to grasp new processes and develop a deep understanding of the work at hand.
- Previous experience in general insurance is advantageous.
- Familiarity with claims and basic legal knowledge is desirable.
