**Ecology Officer**
£14.96 per hour, 6mth contract. Monday - Friday, 37hrs per week. Location flexible.
This role is centred around the **River Habitat Survey **technique. River Habitat Survey (RHS) is the Environment Agency's method of capturing data on the physical structure of rivers and the habitats they support.
We are looking for a member of the team to support the **planning and delivery of our in-house training** in the technique.
This role will focus on the RHS method, but may also cover other types of ecology monitoring as required.
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual with freshwater ecology experience. In this role you will:
- support our specialists in preparing and running training courses for Environment Agency surveyors, and for surveyors from consultancies and other Defra organisations.
- support the management of the ecology monitoring programme.
- enter and validate habitat survey results from field surveyors.
- help to track and assure the programme’s delivery, helping to spot and fix issues with the programme or its delivery.
You would be part of the Monitoring Team who support the delivery of the full range of monitoring programmes and activities, covering; habitat, fish and plant surveys, invertebrates and water quality in all water categories (rivers, lakes, estuaries, coasts and groundwater).
**Experience/skills required**
- Proven knowledge of ecological or morphology assessments.
- Data management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Ability to work independently to solve problems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- UK Driving license would be beneficial.
