**Location**

The organisation’s Headquarters is based at 119 Fore Street, Hertford, SG14 1AX, with an additional office in Borehamwood (Warwick House, 2 Oaks Court, Warwick Road, Borehamwood, WD6 1GS).

This post is office based but the role provides the opportunity for hybrid working once the probation period is completed with the post holder working from home for up to 50% of the time and at meeting venues as the role requires.

Policy and Engagement Manager

**The role **_: _ Focussing on working with carers of children and adults with disabilities, including learning and physical disabilities, autism and long-term illness:

- To increase the number of carers who are supported by Carers in Hertfordshire.
- To co-ordinate and support the involvement of carers in the planning, monitoring and development of health and social care services in Hertfordshire.
- To collate and represent the views and experiences of family carers and to ensure that these are reported to the appropriate commissioners and service providers.

**Main duties**
- To assist the development of carer engagement and involvement, including one-to-one contact, presentations, preparing and disseminating information, publicity material/ articles, website articles etc.
- To engage directly with carers by organising and facilitating local focus groups and meetings across Hertfordshire.
- To identify and recruit carers to attend meetings and working groups reporting to service commissioners and providers.
- To attend and support carer representatives at a number of external meetings as agreed with your line manager.
- To prepare written reports on carer involvement in particular projects for submission to the commissioners.
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the voluntary and statutory sector.
- To attend training and internal meetings and work with colleagues across all the Carers in Hertfordshire services.
- To ensure administration & databases are maintained and up to date, including record-keeping, providing agendas, meeting notes and reports.
- To keep up to date with changes in legislation, policy and practice related to carers, and to maintain a good general knowledge of developments in health and social care.
- To operate within the terms of the Carers in Hertfordshire Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Practice.
