Financial Controller

Reporting to the Head of Finance you take a hands on and participative approach to manage and organise the day to day function of the finance department. This role combines the technical knowledge gained through ACA/ACCA qualification with experience gainedin previous finance roles. This role will provide a timely, accurate and consistent financial service to the business, maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with statutory regulations. This position requires a qualified accountant that isorganised, confident and motivated to continually improve their own and their team’s performance in order to drive the business forward. This is a 12 month fixed term contract with a view to permanency
**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Manage and organise the day-to-day functions/activities of the finance department, to ensure the smooth running of all regular tasks and strive to run the head office finance team efficiently
- Take ownership of the monthly management accounts preparation and completion which includes P&L for each site and balance sheet for each legal entity
- To understand where all data is generated, monitor the data flows to ensure they are robust, efficient, and accurate
- Responsible for overseeing the monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and fixed asset reporting, ensuring its completeness on a monthly basis
- Overall responsibility for monthly payrolls, providing guidance to those staff running payroll including HR colleagues, anticipating changes in minimum wage, and ensuring compliance with HMRC and other legal guidance
- Responsibility for the preparation of VAT returns, ensuring input of data onto the systems is correct, and correct VAT treatment is applied
- Assisting in the annual budgeting process, taking responsibility for its accuracy and input into the required models for submission
- To assist in the annual audit, preparing audit schedules and information as guided by the Head of Finance
- To lead by example and with a hands-on approach continually seeking to develop own skills and eagerness to participate in the wider business activities
