**Job Summary (Description of main purpose of job)**
To support the Service in providing high standards of care and quality of life. In particular to provide high quality support and promote independence in all aspects of daily life to people in their own homes, in training, in employment and in leisure activities.
- Diploma in Health & Social Care (NVQ Level 2) or a similar qualification (or willing to complete within 18 months of appointment)
- Experience of supporting or caring for others, especially those with a learning disability, either from family, employment or voluntary work
- Experience of working within a team as well as working independently
- Able to communicate effectively with people, including people using services, their families and colleagues
- Knowledge of the needs and rights of people with learning disabilities and an understanding of the issues people may face
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills to enable competent and accurate recording and reporting, plus management of personal finances
- Willingness to support service users with domestic tasks, such as cooking, cleaning and shopping
- Committed to the concept of supporting people - maximising employment, training, community and leisure opportunities
