Are you looking to join a team that prides themselves on being a friendly and supportive pharmacy team, committed to delivering the best and safest front-line clinical pharmacy service to our patients? As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our patients and make a real difference in their lives.
We are seeking a dedicated individual to work across our adult in-patient wards on a rotation basis between medicine, surgery, and admissions as a pharmacy support worker. In this role you will improve medicines safety, prevent critical missed doses and help to facilitate efficient and timely patient discharges.
This role will see you embedded into the clinical pharmacy service. On a daily basis you will be working alongside our very experienced medicines management technicians as well as junior and senior pharmacists.
The assistant we are looking for will be dedicated, hardworking and willing to undertake additional study/ training to gain a foundation level medicines optimisation accreditation.
As a pharmacy assistant, your key responsibilities will involve working closely with pharmacy colleagues to provide a responsive pharmacy service to clinical areas. This includes liaising with ward staff, GP surgeries, other hospitals, and community pharmacies as necessary.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively interacting with patients, their families, and carers. Under supervision, you will be responsible for analysing patient medication, confirming suitability for use, and ordering additional supplies when needed. Dispensing medicines, maintaining ward stock, and assembling discharge medication are also part of your duties.
Additionally, you will participate in audits, contribute to stock management, and assist with training new staff. Planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills are important for managing activities and adjusting priorities as required.
Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) is an innovative hospital with a proud heritage and over 250 years of experience behind us. Here we’re driven to deliver an outstanding experience for everyone and have been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment we continue to provide for our patients and also our staff.
We are an acute Trust, rated “Good” by the CQC, with a track record of high performance providing regional and super regional specialist services such as: Burns, Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery, Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory, Wessex Rehabilitation, Spires Cleft Centre and the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre. We have about 470 beds and employ over 4000 staff.
We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. We think working here is pretty rewarding. You can access a range of NHS discounts, receive a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme. On-site benefits include car parking (fee applies), leisure centre, day nursery and holiday play scheme.
