Customer Service Library and Information Advisor

Our friendly and committed Customer Services, are looking for new member to join our team. We pride ourselves on improving people’s lives by delivering support, guidance, information and a constantly improving library service.

Our teams are located in the Library & Information Service in Bath/Keynsham/Midsomer Norton, Bath Central Library and Council Connect our telephony department, and we all work across these places, going where we are needed.

This post will be working from our Midsomer Norton Library & Information Service, although you will still be expected to work flexibly across all locations.

We are often the first point of contact and support for residents for a wide variety of queries, every day is different, and the role is very rewarding.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, performance driven and assertive team player who will enjoy delivering excellent customer service and to make a difference to the residents of Bath and North East Somerset.

This role is a full-time position (37 hours) working Monday-Saturday (on a rota basis) with expectation to flexibly work outside these parameters and work across our different locations in Bath, Keynsham and our Contact Centre.
- You can work under pressure to rapidly respond to all enquiries in a front facing environment with a pro-active and energised attitude
- In addition to general Council enquiries from our residents, promote the vast amount of services available in the libraries, engaging with a diverse range of residents and groups
- You should be committed, patient, diplomatic, tactful and be able to negotiate on all levels to gain the best solution for both customer and client, internally and externally
- Flexibility within the working environment and an ability to use initiative to solve both expected and unexpected problems
- Demonstrate flexibility within the working environment by supporting service changes and assisting in the introduction of new ways of working
- An excellent communicator, who works to high standards ensuring accuracy and excellent customer service with a professional and courteous manner
- The ability to communicate with a diverse range of customers as equality is paramount
- A team player, who enjoys working as part of a team, flexible and adaptable you need to display a ‘can do’ attitude, understand and support the need for continuous improvement. - Excellent IT skills with the ability to use IT systems and interpret and input accurate data and information in accordance with GDPR and Information Governance
- Happy to plan and participate in events and activities within the Library & Information service including the Mobile library
- A minimum of GCSE level education including Maths and English

**Meet a member of our team**:
Hi I’m Katie. I have worked for the Libraries and Information Service since 2016. I deal with customers face to face daily, helping with a diverse range of Council enquiries and Library questions. You never know what question is coming next and the variety makes the job very interesting. I also run library and seasonal themed events for the public and schools, such as Storytime, Baby Bounce and Rhyme and crafting sessions. It’s such fun and very rewarding seeing the younger children enjoying their visit to us, having fun and choosing their books. I have a lot of fun creating new displays throughout the Library all year round.
