Position - ASSISTANT COOK - Bank

Accountable to - HEAD COOK

**Job summary**

Provision of nutritious and balanced menu.

**General Duties**

**1. ** **Ensuring that the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals are the highest standard and quality.**

**2. Liaising with the head cook in respect of the following.**

**A) Menu’s**

**B) Mealtimes**

**C) Special Diets - For Medical, social and or cultural reasons**

**D) Staff Training, to be up to date with all Food Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations, Supervisions (at least every 8 week) and yearly appraisals completed.**

**3. ** **Dealing with suppliers to order all provisions and ensuring that they are of good quality.**

**4. Responsible for portion control and ensuring waste is kept to a minimum.**

**5. In the absence of the head cook take responsibility forth accounting and control of all stock heled on the premises, recording, and completing stock checks on a weekly basis.**

**6. I the absence of the head cook undertake responsibility for the management and cleanses of the kitchen and storage areas ensuring that hygiene standards meet the requirements laid down by the environmental health department.**

**7. I the absence of the head cook undertake responsibility for the directing and supervision of kitchen staff and ensure they all abide by standards of dress and regulations.**

**8. You must be aware o where necessary instruct all kitchen staff, on the following**:
**A) Health and Safety in the workplace.**

**B) Fire regulations and procedures used in an emergency.**

**C) Dangers in the kitchen environment.**

**D) Reporting of incidents/accidents in the kitchen/storeroom.**

**9. Always ensure confidentiality of information.**

**10. Undertake such catering and/or other associated duties as may from time to time be delegated.**
