**Summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity in our Companies House Digital, Data and Technology Directorate, helping to design and deliver quality digital services for our millions of users. You’ll have the opportunity to be at the forefront of digital transformation in government and help shape our services to meet the ever-changing demands of the UK’s business landscape.

The role sits within our User-Centred Design team which plays a key role in the design, delivery and management of these services.

Our user researchers work with colleagues across our organisation to scope, design and carry out research activities with users that help teams get a deep understanding of the people that use the service.

This role can be based in our Cardiff, Belfast or Edinburgh office. We are currently utilising a hybrid approach to the way we work which would see you working mostly from home with very occasional attendance in one of our offices.

**Job description**:
Our user researchers work in an open, iterative and collaborative way in a multidisciplinary team, and communicate effectively, working closely with our interaction designers, product managers, performance analysts, developers, business analysts and other stakeholders and colleagues.

Our User Researcher will:

- Be able to turn research data into clear findings that inform decisions and know how to involve colleagues in analysis and synthesis to increase consensus and challenge assumptions.
- Understand user centred design practices and know how to embed them into an agile workflow to deliver timely findings.
- Play an important role in ensuring that our services meet the GDS Service Standard, and will present evidence at GDS service assessments.

**Responsibilities**:
We’re looking for a User Researcher who:

- Has user research experience and experience of user centred design and agile practices.
- Has or is working towards User Experience research certification (such as Neilson Norman Group Certification or equivalent).
- Is a practicing user researcher with experience of presenting research evidence.
- Has experience of conducting user interviews.
- Has experience of analysing both quantitative and qualitative data to produce user research artefacts.
- Is good at communicating user needs to senior stakeholders, and acting as a persuasive advocate for those needs.
- Has a good understanding of the diversity of users of online services, and has the ability to include many kinds of users in appropriate research activities.
- Has experience of involving the team in research activities, analysis and synthesis. Has a good understanding of how digital technology is changing user behaviours and how that may influence a users‘ life and work.
