Are you ready to play a vital role in keeping York city centre safe and secure?

We are looking for an experienced **CCTV Operator** to provide services on an ad-hoc basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role in December 2025.

**Job purpose**: CCTV operation and surveillance of the City of York Council’s CCTV system. Working in partnership with North Yorkshire Police and providing CCTV images to allow them to respond to incidents.

Initially, this is an ad-hoc position (rota is given at least one month in advance; position will include day and night shifts), with the possibility of transpiring to a permanent position in December 2025. It is essential that applicants hold a specific **SIA CCTV Licence.**A good knowledge of York city centre is also desirable.

**Duties**:

- To operate and monitor all systems within the control room in an efficient manner and to ensure that all work is undertaken in compliance with the operating procedures, legislation and the codes of practice;
- To assist in obtaining and maintaining the British Standards 7958:2005;
- To liaise with the Police, other agencies and members of staff to ensure the appropriate use of the system. To include all evidential records and witness statements to a standard acceptable to the rules;
- To record all events and actions in a clear and accurate written format;
- To provide an efficient and courteous radio and telephone answering service and to deal efficiently with all enquires;
- To report equipment failure to the site supervisor to maximise operation of the system;
- To maintain a secure system for providing data in accordance with the established regulations and to ensure that the security of the control room and equipment is maintained at all times.

**Skills, attributes and experience**:

- SIA CCTV Licence is essential
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask
- Strong problem solving skills and competence in paying attention to detail
- The successful applicant will be punctual, honest and trustworthy
- NPPV2 vetted is desirable, but not essential
- CCTV Operator experience is desirable, but not essential, as training will be given
