**Lead Clinician/Responsible Clinician, 24 hours per week (6 PAs)**
**Salary dependent on experience**
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Lead Clinician in Palliative Medicine to join our team at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, a busy multidisciplinary specialist palliative care unit in Chester.
The Hospice has a ten bedded inpatient unit and a Living Well Centre which provides day therapy, short courses, complementary therapy and acupuncture, medical outpatients, and family support services including social work, counselling, and chaplaincy support.
Patients are referred with a wide variety of malignant and non-malignant disease at various stages of illness. There is a well-integrated multidisciplinary team comprising medical and nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplaincy, counselling staff, and complementary therapists. We work strategically in partnership with other local providers at the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust and the Community Specialist Palliative Care team who are based at the Hospice.
You will make a vital contribution to the care of patients as the named responsible clinician for the inpatients working alongside our team of specialty doctors and multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities will include the overall coordination of medical care of patients on the inpatient unit, medical input into the Living Well Centre, communication with colleagues in the hospital and community and attendance at multidisciplinary meetings.
We are committed to supporting professional development for staff and there is opportunity to participate in teaching, research, and quality improvement activities.
This a unique opportunity suitable for doctors in other specialties who wish to develop or enhance their palliative care knowledge and skills or doctors who have an interest in pursuing a career in Palliative Medicine.

- A minimum of 6 years postgraduate experience with at least four years in palliative medicine or evidence of working at this level to include as a Responsible Clinician
