Ultrasound Clinical Specialist Sonographer
7 days ago
Due to increased demand, there is a vacancy for an enthusiastic and highly motivated sonographer at the Denmark Hill site. If you are dynamic and proactive, you would be ideal to join our friendly team.
You must be either HCPC registered or have a relevant professional qualification with a PGDip/MSc in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent).
We enjoy a close working relationship and are fully supported by our radiology consultant colleagues.
For further details on the above or to request an informal visit, please contact Jennifer Andrews-Kirkwood, Ultrasound Clinical Specialist Manager, General Ultrasound Department, King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London, SE5 9RS via 0203 2993059.
The work here at Denmark Hill is complex as we provide a service for a diverse local community, and we are also a tertiary centre for a number of surgical and medical specialities. A high percentage of the workload is complex liver work for which full training will be given. Sonographers are expected to perform bedside ultrasounds on critically ill patients on the ICUs, wards and in the ultrasound department. There are a number of one stop liver clinics and we are flexible in our approach to accommodating acute patients on the day. In addition, MSK sonographers have extended their scope of practice and perform shoulder injections. Sonographers are also involved in contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)
Proven teaching experience is essential as the department regularly trains radiology registrars, student sonographers and radiographers. Excellent communication skills and a flexible work ethos are required. The Ultrasound department at King’s is committed to your ongoing training and development. You are expected to contribute to departmental research and audit.
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. Everyone’s contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust’s carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible.
