You will be responsible for providing high quality interventions to CYP affected by DVA through the development of individually tailored & risk assessed support and safety plans.
To support CYP through one-to-one sessions to address issues of self-esteem, manage emotions and feelings of blame and responsibility. To improve CYP's understanding of abusive behaviour, healthy relationships and conflict resolution.
To work as a core member of the dedicated CYP Domestic Abuse project, working collaborating with specialist LVWS IDVAs to provide a whole family approach.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments and ensure each CYP receives an individual tailored support package that fully meets their identified needs
- Provide one to one support to children and young people living in families affected by domestic abuse
- Effectively manage a caseload of different risk level cases of approx. 12-15 young people and provide specialist support to reduce the risk and increase safety.
- Review the assessment of risk on an ongoing basis, ensuring appropriate and immediate action is taken in respect of any CYP facing significant harm
- To consult with and involve children and young people in making decisions about themselves and the development of the service
- Establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, with the intention of supporting children and young people
- To advocate on behalf of children and young people with experience of domestic abuse to ensure the diverse needs of children and young people using the service are met
- To work in conjunction with the LVWS IDVAs and other relevant support services to achieve the best outcomes for the family unit
- Ensure relevant databases are kept up to date in an accurate and timely manner and ensure any required reporting is completed to the agreed standards
- To provide case studies, information on trends and challenges about victims services, to contribute to the wider organisational learning and to affect change for the benefit of young victims
