We are recruiting for **Administrator** position for our NHS client in **Chelmsford**, Essex.
**JOB SUMMARY**
Cellular Pathology Administrative assistant will assist the laboratory and clinical services using defined protocols in the provision of a high quality and efficient diagnostic service to patients and medical staff.
In accordance with agreed protocols and standard operational procedures, the post-holder will participate in the administration of sending samples and blocks to other sites for analysis, receiving reports and slides back from other sites for further processing This includes utilising various computer systems to:
~ Undertaking all administrative duties involved in the receipt and processing of specimens and request forms.
~ Data gathering and processing
~ Working as an effective team in an efficient, positive and competent manner.
~ Helping provide a safe, clean and well-maintained environment.
**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
~ Supervise, monitor and maintain workflow of outsourced work.
~ Responsible for the escalation of issues related to workflow
~ Assist in staff training and competency assessment where required
~ Follow procedures, protocols and directives as required providing a high-quality laboratory service.
~ To receive, check and distribute samples received by the laboratory for distribution
~ To receive slides from third party organization and prepare these for distribution to consultants
~ Complete patient identity checks and to deal with any discrepancies in labelling
~ Escalate or complete any additional pre-analytical processing requirements
~ To organize transport for samples and slides
~ To complete training and competency assessment as required.
~ To participate in any additional pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties as required.
~ To answer telephone enquiries and to liaise with a wide spectrum of healthcare and medical professionals.
~ Other basic clerical and administrative duties.
~ To promote a safe and harmonious working environment.
~ To keep work areas clean and tidy at all times.
~ To maintain high standards of punctuality and professionalism.
~ To work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
~ Communication with other members of the team and laboratory staff regarding sample processing and requirements.
~ Communicated with external providers regarding outsourced work
~ Answering telephone enquiries
~ Effectively communicate results of data gathering
~ To monitor, maintain and clean equipment and to inform Supervisor of non-conformities.
~ To assist with laboratory stores and maintenance of stocks within the laboratory
**Qualifications**:
~ To have at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent to include mathematics and English OR to hold an NVQ level 3 or equivalent OR to have demonstrable experience in a clinical laboratory setting

~ Able to consistently adopt behaviours that demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of the Trust values to towards everyone who uses or delivers our patient services
- Willingness to work flexible and antisocial hours
**Start ASAP, Monday-Friday with £12/h**
**Approx 2 months Temporary but may be extended**
**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 2 months
**Salary**: £12.00 per hour
