Practice and Placement Facilitator

The Practice & Placement Facilitator role is designed to develop and influence the quality and quantity of pre and post registration placements by providing support, advocacy, educational input and development activities for assessors, supervisors and students. In addition, the role aims to positively contribute to the future Nursing and Allied Health Professions (AHP) workforce by:
Enhancing the quality of the education, training and support of pre-registration, undergraduate degree/apprenticeships and return to practice learners across the full range of professional groups within the Trust.
Supporting Trainee Nurse Associates and/or Assistant Practitioner apprentices whilst on placement with the Trust and HCRH apprentices whilst on placement with other organisations.
Supporting post graduate rotations, preceptorships and other career development initiatives including the development of professional practice and clinical competencies.
Undertaking both an operational and leadership role in enhancing the capacity and quality of the overall learning environment for non-medical healthcare learners within the Trust.
Work in close partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that practice placement provisions are met, as defined in the Learning Development Agreement (LDA), for Health Education England.
Work with the Head of Clinical Improvement, Professional Education Lead, Practice Development Leads, Practice Educators and university placement teams to negotiate and ensure that the appropriate number of learners are allocated to the Trust.
Work with service managers and placement leads in the development of a placement plan for each service that supports the Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), Health Education England (HEE) and Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) strategy to deliver a pipeline of new graduates.
Support operational managers in the planning and provision of apprenticeship and post graduate rotational roles within their service/s.
Work with service managers and placement leads to ensure the Trust meets the requirements of the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (OSTED), Health Care Professions Council and other regulatory bodies in relation to training provision, including supervision and assessment in practice.
Maintain data systems and provide regular reporting on the volume of placements provided and associated payments received by the Trust.

Act as a role model and maintain clinical expertise to support the learners, practice development leads and educators in delivering teaching and assessment for
Work with the placement facilitator, practice assessors, practice supervisors and link lecturers and rotation supervisors to ensure students receive appropriate induction and orientation to the Trust and/or practice placement
Work with service managers, placement leads, clinical improvement colleagues and HEIs to develop and implement innovative placement and supervision models that optimise the quantity and quality of placements.
Develop a placement leads group to support the ongoing delivery and facilitate cross service learning in the provision of placements.
Provide virtual supervision sessions and/or long arm supervision for placements as required.
Provide additional clinical and pastoral support/advice to clinical colleagues regarding student performance as
To work in collaboration with clinical supervisors for students and staff who are underperforming and put supportive objectives and supervision plans in place. following HR policies and procedures e.g. Probation.
To address and challenge poor practice or conduct and ensure appropriate action is taken.
Support clinical governance processes by embedding governance and reduction of risk into the education and development of staff.
