**Job Purpose**:
To provide efficient and timely secretarial and administration service to the doctors, practice managers and nurses and other members of the practice team. It is also the duty of every member of the team to be aware of Safeguarding

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Secretarial Duties**

**1.**

Type letters, reports and other documents as required.

**2.**

Liaise with hospital and community departments regarding patient care, appointments etc.

**3.**

Ensure telephone enquiries are dealt with in a courteous manner and take messages as appropriate

**4.**

Process incoming and outgoing mail

**5.**

Undertake photocopying as required

**6.**

Filing

**7.**

**Reception Duties**

**8.**

Register new patients and temporary residents

**9.**

Greet and direct patients and visitors

**10.**

Making appointments

**11.**

Handing out prescriptions

**12.**

Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

**13.**

Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgeries

**14.**

Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services

**15.**

Deal with general enquiries

**Filing**

**16.**

Pulling Lloyd George envelopes when requested by doctors

**Prescriptions**

**17.**

Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions

**18.**

Raising prescriptions as per practice protocols

**19.**

Dealing with queries relating to prescriptions

Input and extract information from practice computer system

**21.**

Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
