**The Opportunity**

We have the opportunity for you to join our team as Packaging Technologist. Reporting to Packaging Development Manager you will support the development of new packaging from concept to launch for cooked meats, sausages and pates supplied to the major retailers. You will use your knowledge of packaging materials (thermoform trays, films, sleeves and corrugate), factory manufacturing processes and your relationship with suppliers to ensure that final packaging is functional, fit for purpose, in line with latest sustainability requirements and commercially viable.

You will work closely with Chefs and NPD Managers to meet customer briefs as well as with Procurement and Ops on packaging cost saving projects through innovation and material development.

You will support the NPD Managers to hand over projects to the Process Team for factory trials using internal systems in line with the Samworth Gate Process. You will liaise with internal teams and suppliers if further packaging amends are required following trials and ensure approval against agreed timelines.

The role is ideal for someone already working in a Packaging role or for Process or Food Technologists wanting to expand their experience to Packaging.

**The Right Person**

We are one big team and we look for people to join our business who want to work with others but take responsibility for doing their best every day to help to make the business a success.
- Min of 2 years’ in FMCG industry, already with packaging experience or ideal for a Process Food Technologist wanting to broaden their experience to Packaging.
- Degree level or equivalent qualification in Packaging or Food Technology
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Problem solving skills
- Hardworking with an eye for detail.
- Good communication skills
