The Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner post holder will be based within the Haematology team covering the inpatient mainly and outpatient setting as required alongside their training at Bolton University on a 2year program.

The post holder will work across the inpatient ward and may be required to support outpatient and ambulatory setting as required, the role may in the future incorporate Weekends and Bank Holidays working.
Main duties of the job through training and with support on completion of the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
- Provide clinical assessment and support to the care and treatment of a diverse caseload of patients requiring haematology input and transplant.
- Demonstrate a highly specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of patients with haematological malignancies and those requiring transplant.
- Demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge and skills in the acute care and management of patients receiving SACT.
- Provide medical support to the day unit and ambulatory care units as well as the inpatient ward at The Christie Foundation Trust.
- Request investigations, procedures and make appropriate referrals maintaining relevant clinical records.
- Non-Medical prescribing is fundamental in supporting this role
- Clinical examination skills are essential for this role
- Provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the haematology and transplant service.
- Work alongside the medical, AHP and nursing teams, maintaining good communication and collaboration between the various multidisciplinary teams.
- To be a highly visible and approachable role model, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the clinical areas.
- Demonstrate a high commitment to the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice which includes Clinical practice, Education, Leadership and Management and Research.

Advanced Clinical Practice
1.0 Plan and manage own workload and the workload of the service, in a flexible manner, ensuring that service provision meets the need of patients.
1.1 Recognises and appropriately responds to limitations and gaps in knowledge seeking support where necessary. Demonstrates critical self-reflection, self awareness, emotional intelligence, resilience, and openness to change.
1.2 Develops and undertakes advanced clinical skills in assessing and managing patients. This includes obtaining informed consent, history taking, screening, systematic clinical examination, requisition and interpretation of appropriate clinical investigations and formulation of clinical management plans.
1.3 Maintain and develop expertise and competence within the field of oncology to enable collaboration with senior colleagues and medical staff, and to facilitate the management of patients.
1.4 Use evidence-based research to support clinical decisions and management plans.
1.5 Prescribe within the capacity of non-medical prescribing, adhering to Trust policy and existing frameworks including first and subsequent cycles of SACT (as per Medicines Practice Operational Policy July 2010), unlicensed medication and drugs used within clinical trials as qualified Independent Non-Medical Prescriber. Prescribe appropriate blood products as per Trust policy.
1.9 Liaise with the wider inter-professional teams regarding the management of patients under their care.
1.10 Accept referrals from other health care professionals and refer patients directly to other specialties within the appropriate primary, secondary and tertiary care settings.
