**Communications Officer at New Road Psychotherapy**
**Part-time / Flexible hours (approx. 5-10 hours per week)**
**Location: Remote / Hove-base**
**Pay: £17.50 per hour - Freelance**
**Reports to: Clinical Manager, Centre Manager & Director**
At New Road Psychotherapy (NRP), we believe in the power of presence, dialogue, and ethical care. For over 20 years, we have provided thoughtful, inclusive psychotherapy services in Brighton and Hove, grounded in the principles of counselling and psychotherapy, as well as human connection. We are currently seeking a Communications Officer who can help amplify our voice while remaining true to our values.
**About the Role**:
This is a focused role for someone who combines creative communication with integrity. You will be responsible for shaping and maintaining our public presence through digital channels, local outreach, and occasional event promotion, ensuring that our message remains clear, consistent, and rooted in the therapeutic spirit of NRP. We’re not looking for flashy campaigns or hard sells. Instead, we seek someone who understands the subtleties of therapeutic language, can work with nuance, and knows how to build trust with a diverse audience, including clients, therapists, and professional partners.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Develop and manage a content calendar for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and our website blog.
- Craft high-quality posts, newsletters, and short articles that reflect the tone and ethos of NRP.
- Collaborate with therapists to share insights, events, and therapeutic reflections
- Help us increase our visibility both locally and online, particularly among clients seeking therapy and professionals seeking continuing professional development (CPD).
- Ensure brand coherence across all platforms, evolving our tone as needed.
- Report KPIs. Webpage views, Instagram followers and other KPIs.
- Support marketing for CPD Sussex and other NRP-related initiatives.
- Market our training space for external hire.
- Attend weekly online team meetings (strictly 35 minutes).
- Understand Google reviews and to acquire them.
**What We’re Looking For**:
- Excellent written communication skills, with a warm, clear, and intuitive style. Familiarity with mental health, psychotherapy, or adjacent fields (personally or professionally).
- Sensitivity to ethical and psychological nuance—able to communicate without jargon or oversimplification.
- Confidence with social media scheduling tools and basic design tools.Organised, self-directed, and able to work flexibly within a small team.
- A collaborative working style.
**Desirable (but not essential)**:
- Experience writing or editing psychotherapy or wellness-related content.
- Understanding of GDPR and ethical communications in the mental health space.
- Connection to the local community in Brighton and Hove, and beyond.
Other duties may be reasonably required outside of your main job description.
