**Job Title: Finance Business Partner**

**3 Month FTC**

**Edinburgh - Hybrid**

**Purpose of the role**

The need for an Interim FBP had come about to work with the business to drive growth and encourage leadership to deliver during a transitional period for the organisation. While the current FBP is focussed on the companies ambitious transformation programme, the responsibility will be to cover business as usual and provide support where required. Working closely with the Head of Finance and Cheif Operating Officer to make performance improvements and drive profitability and cash performance.

Direct reports: Associate Business Partner & Business Analyst

**Key Responsibilities**
- Key Finance Partner for the Executive Leadership Team.
- Support the wider business Management Team in all aspects of financial management to ensure there is a strong focus on making commercial decisions and creating shareholder value including contributing to business planning and advising on financial implications of business decisions.
- Monitor and report on overheads and contribute to the production of relevant finance board papers to the required standard.
- Develop strong relationships with budget holders to ensure the finance team play an integral role in financial decision making.
- Work with managers and leaders across the business to identify opportunities to implement improvements to reduce costs, improve efficiency and maximise net contribution.
- Prepare consolidated monthly management accounting information packs to be used as the basis of a monthly review meeting with each budget holder.
- Drive an operational excellence culture across the business, identifying and implementing process and financial control improvements.
- To deliver support accountabilities as required including compliance, procurement support and other as deemed necessary.
- Ad hoc projects and initiative support as required.
- Undertake proactive investigation, to develop a better understanding of the business and to provide operational performance.
- Provide expert accounting, reporting and all necessary financial expertise.
- Partner with FP&A to ensure accurate forecasting and understanding of opportunities and risks.
- Drive annual budget process requirements within business areas.
- Partner with business areas to achieve performance KPIs.
- Promote the use of data and analytics across the business to drive informed business decisions.

**Person Specification**:
Knowledge and experience:
- Proven experience in Business Partnering.
- Experience of business planning and budgeting.
- Experience of working at a senior level with Senior Management/Executive teams.
- Successful track record of identifying & advising on initiatives to drive cost reduction, maximise revenue and improve business efficiency.
- Successful track record of identifying & implementing improvements to the control environment.
- Extensive experience of building and maintaining strong business relationships with both financial and non-financial individuals and teams.
- People Management / Leadership experience.
- Utility sector experience (desirable but not required).

Qualification
- Qualified Accountant

- Strong commercial acumen
- Ability to drive continuous improvement in financial information provision and business efficiency
- Strong planning and project management abilities
- Proficient in Excel and business modelling.
- Excellent inter-personal skills in order to build productive working relationships and ability to communicate financial data in a meaningful way to non-financial staff.
- Ability to take strategic direction and translate into achievable objectives.
- Works with a high level of attention to detail & accuracy.
- Well-developed people management skills including coaching, motivation and team development.
