**Job Overview**

An innovative opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic healthcare professional has become available. Learning and Development are now seeking to appoint a Clinical Education Lead to join our 45 strong team, to take forward the educational support for all healthcare support workers (HCSW) new and existing.

You must have experience of training clinical skills, care certificate and working in clinical teams alongside healthcare support workers/healthcare assistants. It would be preferable, though not essential, to have recent nursing experience.

The Learning and Development service are responsible for the training and education of 6000 staff, and over 1000 student each year, from pre-employment to employment through professional training and learning beyond registration.

The role will, as a priority, develop and co-ordinate new starter HCSWs training to support the Trusts Zero HCSW Vacancy ambition, across all clinical areas (i.e. mental health, children’s and adults). In addition, it will create pathways into employment such as Taster Sessions, Work Experience, Summer Schools and clear developmental pathways to Grow Our Own Nursing Associates and Registered Nurses. The role will also link with our education partners in developing routes for students into HCSW bank roles.

To succeed, you will have excellent clinical knowledge and be a strong strategic leader, with a good understanding of training methodologies. Ability to travel across sites, county and city, and experience of working across different services, directorates and organisations will be beneficial. As the role will include clinical supervision and pastoral support for learners’ knowledge and experience as a mentor/supervisor or coach would be valuable.

**Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)**
- The post holder will provide clinical education, professional development and leadership programmes across the division in line with professional regulatory bodies and organisational need to ensure that the clinical workforce is fit for practice and purpose and able to respond to changes in patient care delivery.
- The post holder will work in partnership with professional leads and service managers to identify educational and training needs for all staff across a range of disciplines, in order to achieve organisational objectives and ensure safe and effective service provision.
- The post holder will provide support structures, education and mentorship as appropriate for Healthcare Support Workers, new to healthcare and experienced practitioners as well as those undertaking further qualifications e.g. vocational qualifications and foundation degree.
- The role will provide effective visible leadership at service, operational and practice levels for education, learning and development and service improvement initiatives which respond directly to divisional and organisational objectives
