**Clinical Lead - Leicestershire Police services**
**£60,000 per annum**
**42 hours per week**
**car (electric) or car allowance of £5,500 per annum + private healthcare (single cover) plus other benefits**
**Requirements for Clinical Lead Role**:
- An experienced Forensic Physician with a minimum of 5 several years of clinical forensic experience.
- Has full membership of the GMC with no restrictions on practice.
- Possesses an appropriate Forensic Medical post-graduate qualification.
- Has been continuously resident in the UK for at least 36 months. (This is a police vetting requirement)
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Is competent in the use of the English Language whether spoken and written.
- Demonstrates skills in people management, leadership and managing change.
- Experience in clinical education would be an advantage.
- Certification of training as an appraiser would be an advantage.
- Experience of expert witness work would be an advantage.
- Research and publication skills would be beneficial
- Is accountable FOR the Forensic Physicians and all HCPs within the contract.
- Is accountable TO the Medical Director for clinical matters.
- Is accountable TO the Contract Manager for local contractual matters and to the Managing or Operations Director for national matters.
**What will be expected from you**:
Develops and supports Clinical Governance within the contract thereby ensuring appropriate management of all
clinical risks that may arise from service delivery.
Ensures clear lines of clinical accountability within the clinical governance structure.
Develops and supports the continuance of appropriate clinical risk assessments within each local contract and
ensures that they are carried out at regular intervals.
Develops and implements nationally or locally agreed audits within a local contract in order to achieve
continuous service improvement.
Ensures that individual members of staff within the local contract have training plans in place to demonstrate
their commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and that these plans are followed through.
reports to the Medical Director or Clinical Governance Committee all issues concerning Clinical Governance and any serious or ongoing clinical concerns, complaints, or misdemeanours relating to an individual member of staff.
- Ensures that all clinical procedures and instructions approved by the Governance, Risk and Compliance committee are implemented within each local contract.
- Develops and supports a local performance management system for all Health Care Professionals employed by the Company; supports the Contract Management Team in addressing any clinical performance issues.
- Advises the Medical Director on all clinical issues affecting the delivery of the local contract.
- Leads and provides clinical supervision of the local clinical team to ensure that the medical needs of the client are met.
- Involves all staff in the development of customer services and directs their commitment to the achievement of agreed performance targets.
- Conducts regular reviews of statement quality, clinical notes and custody record entries locally, and provides reports as required.
- Acts as an ambassador for Care & Custody (Health) when carrying out all duties.
- Assists the Medical Director in the creation, amendment and updating of clinical procedures and instructions to ensure clinical effectiveness and best practice.
- Chairs local staff meetings which should take place at least quarterly, and should contain matters of clinical governance, training and operational delivery.
- Investigates or provides advice in response to adverse incidents and complaints against clinical staff. Assists the Professional Standards Team in any investigation.
- Participates in induction training and the supervision of new clinical staff. Shares responsibility with the other members of the local management team in determining final professional competency in all aspects of forensic clinical practice.
- Supports the development of the Lead HCP role so that they are competent to fufil the requirements of the role.
- Participates in the national annual appraisals of all Mitie C&CH Medical staff.
- Implements the nationally agreed training programme for clinical staff
- Attends local customer contract review meetings as required and other partner liaison meetings as appropriate.
- Supports the Contract Manager in resolving administrative issues that may arise from the management of the rota.
- Assists or advises in resolving issues surrounding late responses and data discrepancies.
- Assists or advises with the provision of statements to the police.
- Attends meetings at the direction or with the agreement of the local Contract Manager.
- Where possible conducts research and development of forensic medicine, including publication.
