About Us:
The Worcestershire County Council Education Engagement Team provides many statutory services to all Worcestershire residents for all Worcestershire schools.

This role will be within the LINCs Team who have the responsibility for Absence Monitoring within schools (including identification of children who are unable to attend school due to exclusion, medical needs or other reasons, or on a part-time timetable), Participation Monitoring of the Post 16 cohort (including providing careers advice and guidance to the NEET group), identification of children missing education or elective home education, provision of Child Entertainment and Employment licenses, and support of the Operation Encompass early intervention safeguarding partnership.

We are seeking an Education Engagement Officer (Absence Monitoring) with a working knowledge or awareness of legislation and guidance relating to attendance and CME to ensure that the statutory responsibilities for children not attending school are met and who will work with Local Area partners, educational providers and colleagues across WCC, to improve outcomes for Vulnerable Learners, specifically those who are unable to attend school.

As an Education Engagement Officer (Absence Monitoring) you will support the Education Absence Monitoring Officers and collaborate with the rest of the team, other services (both internally and externally), and schools to ensure that those children not in education or not receiving a full-time suitable education are identified and where appropriate prepared for discussion or further review at the weekly CCAS panel, whilst proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of the service.

About You:
A large part of the role is data and process driven, it will be desk-based and include entering information regarding children and young people’s education onto the various systems and databases used by teams across WCC - this data will come from a variety of sources including online forms, spreadsheets, meetings and all forms of communication. It will need to be entered quickly and accurately to ensure the information being used is as up to date as possible. This information will also need to be reviewed and assessed to understand the educational situation of a child or young person and make a decision on whether further consideration by the LA is required, further information is needed or support is sufficient. Professional curiosity, the ability to use initiative in individual situations and a methodical approach are ideal characteristics to support this.

You will also work as part of a small, dynamic team providing frontline support, including giving advice and guidance, to schools, parents and professionals, and will need the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. You should be a good communicator who is self-motivated, solution focused with the ability to liaise and communicate in person/and or in writing a variety of information, including dealing with anxious/apprehensive individuals in a sensitive manner and being able to use diplomacy and professional challenge as required.

Good attention to detail and producing work to a high standard is required as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.

You should have outstanding organisational skills, be able to take ownership, accountability, and responsibility of your work and have excellent relationship building skills.
