Submarine Support Engineering is a business unit within Babcock’s Nuclear Sector and is the industry leader in providing In Service Engineering & Programme support to the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) enabling better enterprise decision making to keep Submariners Safe at Sea. As a trusted provider for global defence & security, Babcock is an exciting and fast paced business carrying out a diverse range of activities. Key to our mission is submarine enterprise collaboration in delivering engineering & programme outputs that support the successful delivery of the In-Service submarine programme.

The Submarine Operations Centre is a key capability delivered by a joint Babcock / SDA team. Using the combination of our knowledge and experience with ever improving digital tools and information we improve the management of submarine maintenance requirements and the design of maintenance projects, supporting effective operations delivered by our waterfront project and delivery teams.

**The role**

Learning from Experience (LfE) is a through life process which enables organised learning by replicating success, avoiding mistakes and publicising and promoting best practice throughout the submarine enterprise.

As the Waterfront Specialist (Continuous Improvement) you will establish & maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of Babcock & customer based stakeholders. You will manage a co-ordinated enterprise-wide end to end LFE approach providing support in capturing, managing, analysing & implementing LFE to improve future maintenance planning and delivery performance.
- Identification of Maintenance Planning Improvements
- Efficient maintenance of the LfE database.
- Timely/accurate inputting of LfE data.
- Accurate updating of LfE item status and actions.
- Production of periodic written LfE reports.
- Efficiently answering employee enquiries, maintaining a high level of customer care in the process.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills when liaising with stakeholders throughout the enterprise.

**Essential experience**
- An engineering background, or significant experience in Continuous Improvement (Lean /Six Sigma Improvement Methodologies)
- Excellent process experience, implementing LFE / maintenance planning improvements.
- Good communication skills & stakeholder management experience.
- Willing to challenge yourself & others to do things differently.
- Ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team.

You must be able to achieve ‘Security Check’ (SC) clearance.

**Qualifications**
- HNC/HND in engineering or other relevant specialisation.
- APM Fundamentals or equivalent qualification desirable.
- Lean six sigma qualification / experience desirable.
