Ipswich, United Kingdom Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you a Psychologist with a passion for working with young people and their families? Do you believe in keeping young people and their families at the heart of everything you do? Would you like to work in a committed and psychologically-minded multidisciplinary team and service line?

Our team prides itself on highly skilled practitioners. We have close links with UEA and take Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement. We learn, develop and work together to ensure the young person and their family/carers receive a tailored package of care based on good assessment and formulation. Our team currently works with young people aged 0-16 years (changing to 0-18 years in the future). We are a secondary mental health service.

You will be a trained Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, registered with the HCPC, ideally with clinical experience of working with young people and in a mental health setting. However, we welcome experienced psychologists considering a change of speciality

You will complement and enhance the existing psychological resources and skills within the team, and work alongside MDT colleagues. As well as direct assessments and clinical interventions, you will contribute to team formulation, consultation, supervision and skill sharing. We seek thorough understanding of the young people's needs through team review, multi-agency working and supervision processes. You will be supervised by the Principal Clinical Psychologist in the team. We are continually striving to improve practice in line with evidence base as well as using creative innovative ideas. We have a commitment to outcome measures and service improvement. The postholder will have opportunities to take some leadership roles with regards to service and team development. You will be supported through the Trust Management and Clinical Supervision structures, and multi-disciplinary colleagues. We endeavour to provide a learning environment to facilitate professional development.

The team works with young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties and their families and carers, formulated with biopsychosocial models and appreciative of systems and context. You’ll get experience of working with varied presentations and there will opportunities to develop special interests within the CAMHS offer e.g. low mood, anxiety, trauma, complex emotional and behavioural presentations and working with neurodevelopmental issues and mental health.

NSFT is engaged in a process of significant and exciting change with a new Suffolk-wide care group for Children, Young People and Families. Recent CQC inspection has shown improvements in the services which we plan to build on as we transform the Suffolk CFYP Services.

We have a new leadership structure and are engaged with internal and external transformation, and psychology is represented at the highest level within this. NSFT in collaboration with alliance partners are striving to deliver a truly biopsychosocial approach within the ‘Thrive’ framework. This will require significant system changes across Suffolk to move towards a whole system approach and to improve care for our young people and their experience of services.

We believe in our Trust values of together, positively and respectfully with regards to our service users, as well our colleagues

The Child and Family Team East is a core secondary community mental health team. The team works alongside other teams such as Connect (Looked after children), Wellbeing, Schools, ADHD, LD CAMHS, Eating Disorders, Youth and Crisis.

There is a lot of development within the service line, with a focus on outcome measures, people participation, improving assessment, formulation and care planning, building better links with voluntary agencies and other stakeholders, for example.

You will be part of a skilled community team with a real ethos of care for the young people and families seen. We are recruiting new staff to several teams and would be keen to match your skills & preferences with these.

Core CAMHS Teams have team base inIpswich and provide an assessment, treatment and consultation service to children, young people and their families who require ‘help’ or more often ‘more help’ (thrive model) up to age 14 (changing to up to 18). As with all parts of the service we are developing innovative truly needs led ways of understanding children, young people and their families and are putting a psychological and psychotherapeutic understanding and formulations at the heart of our work

In this team we seek, thorough understanding of young people's needs, through team review, multi-agency working, and supervision processes. Your role will complement and enhance the existing psychological resources and skills within the team, provided by a range of professions making up the MDT.
