Psychologist (Contractor) – Wagtail Psychology

40/60 Split (inclusive of super) | 2–4 Days per Week | Ipswich & Surrounds

Wagtail Psychology is a warm, values-driven private practice committed to delivering evidence-based, trauma-informed care to our local community. With strong referral pathways, trusted relationships with local GPs, and a growing demand for high-quality mental health services, we are seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our practice as an independent contractor.

This is an ideal role for someone who values autonomy, flexibility, and meaningful clinical work—while still having the support of reception, scheduling, and a steady stream of referrals.

About the Role

Contractor position on a 40/60 split (inclusive of super)

2–4 days per week, with flexible scheduling

Work autonomously within a solo-practitioner practice model

Strong referral base, particularly for trauma presentations, complex mental health, and general presentations

Admin support provided, including reception, scheduling, intake coordination, and billing

Opportunity to contribute to community mental health initiatives, workshops, and Wagtail Psychology's wellbeing programs

A supportive, down-to-earth, and highly professional environment

About You

We are looking for a Psychologist who is confident working independently and has strong experience in trauma-informed practice. You will be ideal for this role if you:

Hold AHPRA General Registration as a Psychologist

Are registered (or eligible) as a Medicare Provider

Have demonstrated experience with trauma, including work with victims of crime, first responders, or complex presentations

Are confident working autonomously in a solo practitioner environment

Maintain high professional standards aligned with APS, AHPRA, and trauma-informed frameworks

Are warm, collaborative, and client-centred

Bring excellent communication skills and clinical judgment

Enjoy flexibility, independence, and shaping your own clinical load

Why Join Wagtail Psychology?

Consistent, high-quality referrals—no need to build a caseload from scratch

Flexible work-life balance and creative control over your practice

Collaborative support from the small and experienced team

Engagement in community education including suicide prevention initiatives

A reputation for safe, compassionate, evidence-based care across Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley

Strong organisational values centred on wellbeing, respect, and meaningful impact
