- **About Police Digital Service**_

- **Key Responsibilities**_
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Analytics, Data Science and Data Platform communities across local Police Forces in England and Wales, Police Scotland, Police Services Northern Ireland and other UK Policing bodies and Law Enforcement agencies, e.g.,the operational Policing portfolios in the NPCC
- Manage relationships and support senior stakeholders across UK Policing, in order to:

- drive innovation and add value to the forces by understanding their Analytics and Data Science priorities and challenges
- articulate the importance of Analytics and Data Science, gain ownership and demonstrate the benefits of a data-driven culture
- provide thought leadership in all aspects of Analytics and Data Science
- Provide leadership in the creation and implementation of a new Data Platform capability for Policing
- Lead commercial evaluation to determine the strategic Analytics and Data Science Platform
- Own, develop, plan and implement our strategic Policing Cloud Analytics and Data Science Platform and encourage the migration of force data platforms onto the new strategic data platform
- Create, develop, support and maintain Analytics & Data Science Platform roadmaps, agile development and iterative development of the target Cloud Data Platform
- Support the consolidation in data platforms across Policing to reduce the TCO for Analytics and Data Science
- Democratise data through the strategic Cloud Data Platform, providing new capabilities and access
- Develop and deliver the Data Platform strategy, covering data science, reporting and analytics, pipelines, management and tooling support
- Perform technology and product research
- Deliver a data platform framework and approach for the efficient acquisition, cataloguing, provisioning and processing of data
- Build an operating model to enable Analytics and Data Science delivery
- Develop and implement business continuity & disaster recovery methods and procedures for data platform systems and databases
- Effectively communicate progress against the plan to senior Policing colleagues and partners
- Promote the Data Platform brand both internally and externally
- Build relationships with key external partners; partner with third parties and Policing colleagues to develop the target platform
- Lead, mentor and collaborate with a diverse team to establish and evolve our data capabilities to embed standard practices
- Ensure the team remain engaged and skilled in the latest technology
- Work closely with and support the Chief Data Officer
- Work with leadership teams to drive alignment across the strategic pillars of the NPDO
- Work collaboratively to select appropriate data platform capabilities that align with the UK Policing Data Governance priorities
- Ensure that there is strong alignment across PDS (Strategy, CTO, Cyber/CISO, DPO) for the target Data Platform solution.
- Grow, create and manage the Data Platform Development team within the NPDO in PDS.
- Be a voice for the Data Platform elements of the National Policing Digital Strategy 2020-2030 (National Policing Digital Strategy - Police Digital Service - pds.police.uk)
- **What you need to succeed in the role**_
- Extensive experience in Cloud Data Platform roles, with proven experience in Cloud Data Platform Analytics and Data Science solutions and platform capabilities on public clouds (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience in developing and maturing a Cloud Analytics, Data Science and Data Platform capability
- Deep understanding of the technology industry offering in the Cloud Data Platform space
- Strong experience in establishing, running and/or delivering a Cloud Data Platform team and programme of work, including the running of an operational Data Platform, including risk, issue reporting and escalation
- Technical experience on a wide range of cloud environments and tools
- Deep knowledge of data modelling and engineering practices
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Ability to engage with senior Law Enforcement stakeholders with varying
- data skills
- Ability to articulate complex Data Platform, Analytics and Data Science capabilities in a simple language that keeps audiences
- engaged
- Proven track record of leading a delivery of a large-scale transformational change, ideally in Policing, Defence or UK Public Sectors
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship management, problem solving and building trust are all essential requirements for this role.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively engage with senior Law Enforcement stakeholders with varying data skills
- Previous experience in building, managing and developing a Data Platform team—one that embodies our values around being curious, empowered, diverse, inclusive and agile
- Current knowledge of the data industry: trends, innovation and best practices
- Security clearance level: NPPV3 and SC (this is not a prerequisite and can be applied for following a provisional offer of employment)
