**Position Overview**
Based at our site in Simonswood, on the border of Merseyside and Lancashire, Puratos are seeking a **Specifications Technologist** to join our team.
The Specifications Technologist plays an important role in our team. They are responsible for creating and maintaining specifications for our finished products, along with sourcing and maintaining specifications for all our raw materials and packaging from suppliers too. The Specifications Technologist works closely with our product and business development teams, purchasing and quality teams, and communicates regularly with our customers.
The role is full time working Monday to Friday, with the need to be flexible when required in line with business and customer requirements.
The role is commutable from the Liverpool/Skelmersdale/St Helens/Wigan areas.

**Responsibilities**
- Completing specifications to the required standards for retailers, B2B food manufacturers and foodservice customers using both customer and generic specification software.
- Completing one-page basic specifications for R&D sample submissions.
- Using Nutricalc to generate nutritional tables, ingredient declarations and recipe formulations.
- Managing and completing customer information requests including SAQ’s.
- Requesting new raw material and packaging specifications from suppliers when required.
- Assisting in the supplier approval process.
- Supporting customer visits and audits.
- Assisting the Quality team in maintaining and monitoring information on the SAP/AP systems.
- Working collaboratively and effectively with all members of the team, in particular the Purchasing, R&D and Sales teams, ensuring clear and proactive communications with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
**Profile**
- Experience in a Technical/Quality role in the Food industry; ideally working with a complex ingredient final product.
- A competent user of customer specifications systems, electronic databases and ERP systems.
- Knowledge and training in EU/UK labelling regulations with the ability to produce legal label ingredients declarations.
- Awareness of regulatory standards and processes within the UK food industry.
- Food Safety and HACCP at Level 3
- Internal auditing experience/certification
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle competing demands and priorities
- Works with a high attention to detail
