Segment Storage is a family-run independent self-storage facility in Melksham, Wiltshire. We’re seeking an enthusiastic **Assistant Store Manager** to join our team, ensuring outstanding service for our customers, and supporting our growth alongside our partner company, **dbdplay**, which designs and builds bespoke playgrounds for schools and nurseries.

The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both businesses. During quieter periods at Segment, you’ll be involved in key tasks for dbdplay, ensuring you’re always engaged with purposeful work. This includes supporting areas where we’re looking to grow, such as **social media content creation and credit control/bookkeeping**. By playing a valuable part in both businesses, you’ll feel like a core member of the wider team, making your role dynamic and varied.

**The Role**

As an Assistant Store Manager, your primary focus will be delivering exceptional customer service to residents and local businesses, ensuring they receive expert guidance on their storage needs. Empathy and strong interpersonal skills are essential, but so is the ability to **close sales** and help grow the business.

When you’re not assisting Segment customers, you’ll dive into key support areas for dbdplay. From credit control to social media content creation, your contributions will help both companies thrive. This blend of customer-facing and behind-the-scenes work means that you’ll never be sitting idle—you’ll always have meaningful tasks to keep you busy and fulfilled.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide a warm and professional experience for all customers, helping them solve storage problems and ensuring they leave confident in our service.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in our CRM system.
- Confidently close sales and promote the services of Segment Storage to increase store performance.
- **Support dbdplay** with ad-hoc tasks during quiet periods at Segment, such as:

- **Social media editing**: Create, capture, and post engaging content that showcases dbdplay’s unique projects.
- Credit control and **bookkeeping** assistance.
- General administrative tasks to support dbdplay’s growth.
- Help ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the store, promoting a positive and flexible work environment.
- Assist with planning and running **community engagement events** for both businesses.

**Skills & Competencies**
- **Empathy and sales ability**: A friendly, approachable manner combined with the confidence to close deals.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage diverse tasks across two businesses.
- A **proactive attitude**, with the ability to identify ways to add value during quiet periods.
- Social media savvy, with a keen interest in creating and managing content (especially for platforms like Instagram and Facebook).
- IT proficient: Familiarity with CRM systems and basic accounting/bookkeeping software is a plus.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive business information discreetly.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 26.5 per week
