Assistant Psychologist
Starting Salary £21,320

Complex Trauma Services -Shrewsbury

We all know that the Coronavirus is changing the way we go about our everyday lives but, at The Cambian Group, there is one thing that doesn’t change - our absolute commitment to the children and young people in our care.

We are making sure that the support we offer is constant, reliable and of the highest quality and it is our fantastic staff who are making this happen.

Amidst all the uncertainty, as everything we do changes, how about changing your story too and, in turn, help to change the lives of our children and young people?

Cambian Group, the UK’s largest provider of specialist services in children’s residential care, education, mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities, is looking for dedicated, caring individuals to join the company as an Assistant Psychologist. The post will require someone with previous experience of working in CAMHS settings preferably with experience of working with children who are Looked After.

Cambian Complex Trauma Servicesprovides a range of therapeutic interventions for children and young people who have endured a range of adverse childhood experiences which has lead them to be looked after in a residential home. We currently have a small number of residential homes and a school where we provide a holistic approach to supporting children and young people to overcome their early experiences.

Job Role

The role requires some travel around the locality to visit children’s homes, and you will operate from a clinical base in the locality. This role may also require you to provide support to your clinical colleagues in Complex Trauma Homes in the neighbouring region around Tamworth, and you may also be required to attend the Tamworth Clinical Base in order to do this. Therefore driving is an essential skill in order to fulfil this role.

Full induction training is given. You will also learn from some of the most dedicated and inspirational people in our profession and just like our young people and Service Users, you will be learning all the time through our on-going mentoring and support. Clinical supervision is an important part of development and additional training will be supported.

You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you’ll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a strong degree in Psychology, which is accredited by the British Psychological Society, and ideally someone with previous experience as an Assistant Psychologist. Extensive experience within CAMHS, Residential services or other children’s services is also desirable.
