**Job summary**:
This role is an opportunity to be part of the Home Office’s Homeland Security Group which unites capabilities and expertise to deliver better outcomes from the UK’s response to the most serious domestic threats - Terrorism, Cyber, State Threats and Economic Crime. As part of the Home Office, the role of the Homeland Security Group is to:

- Reduce volume of, and harm from, economic crime, particularly for the most vulnerable

Within the Homeland Security Group you will join the executive leadership team of the National Communications Data Service (NCDS), which is responsible for preserving the UK’s communications data capabilities, in a changing technological environment, to prevent and detect crime and terrorism, protect the public and save lives.

**Job description**:
The purpose of the hybrid Programme/Project planner / Project Support Officer roles will support delivery of the new TIOMS system, by creating a directive PMO that drives excellence and high standards for work and processes across the TI Services Programme. You will work with the Programme leads and support the delivery of projects designed to deliver operational benefits to local or regional policing, security and intelligence agencies, and other law enforcement agencies.

Projects range from delivering new CD capabilities including technical and business change or delivering changes to existing products and services. All projects include technology, business change and service integration elements. Typically, the G7 technical project managers will either manage one large project or a number of smaller linked projects and Project Managers will operate at all parts of the project lifecycle, working to define, scope, plan, deliver and sustain all projects.

Specifically, the role will lead the planning and scheduling function within TISP ensuring that systems are in place to enable effective planning, scheduling and change control. Produce and maintain planning artefacts and tool including end to end plan using MS project, plan on a page and planning standards. Track and report delivery against plans and roadmaps to support effective governance and decision making. This role is critical to ensure projects remain on track, deliver against budget, remain aligned to strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

- Deliver projects utilising project management techniques to ensure the delivery and achievement of strategic business objectives.
- Work with the workstream leads to understand current processes and to document and prioritise requirements for changes and additions.
- Management of required Governance, including milestone reporting, project status reporting, and risk and issue management.
- Manage stakeholders to ensure projects add value and are aligned to stakeholder expectations
- Undertake any other work as directed by your line manager in connection with their job as may be request

**Essential Criteria**
- Previous experience in a similar role in Project Management with track record of delivery with the experience or knowledge of the ‘Agile’ and ‘waterfall’ project management framework
- The ability to manage risks and issues combined with analytical skills to identify how one issue or risk can impact on another and put in place the required interventions through support or from own knowledge base
- A methodical detailed approach to work
- Adaptability skills; to be able to respond to change in priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft software as well as the ability to learn how to use project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
