Consultant in Paediatric Urology

We have an exciting new post available for a Consultant Paediatric Urologist. The appointee will be based jointly between East and North Herts NHS Trust and the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. The post is a full-time post comprising of 10.5 programmed activities (PAs). The role includes Paediatric urology clinics, diagnostics and theatre activities at both trusts.

Applicants should have complete Adult Urology or Paediatric surgery training either in the UK or equivalent at the time of interview. They should have also completed a minimum of two years in Paediatric Urology at post CCT fellowship level. Applications from those wishing to work part-time or job share are welcomed.

Applicants must be on or within 6 months of being on the Specialist Register, at the time of interview.

This is an excellent opportunity within the Urology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. We have a shared Urology Ward and good links with Paediatric and neonatal teams. There is a broad range of Paediatric open, Reconstructive, Endoscopic and Laparoscopic surgery well supported by modern equipment and a dedicated Paediatric theatre. There is a sub-regional renal unit so patients with complex nephro-urological problems are safely managed.

We are also well supported by 4 interventional radiologists with CT, MR and nuclear medicine. We have close links with Great Ormond Street and Addenbrookes Hospital for discussion and management of more complex cases including an in-reach service from Great Ormond Street for both Paediatric Urology and Paediatric Nephrology.

This is a new post currently covered by a locum appointment. The appointee will be primarily based at the East and North Herts NHS Trust in Stevenage with regular planned activities at PAH. The role also includes Paediatric urology clinics, diagnostics and theatre activities at both trusts.
