Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (Southend site) are offering exciting opportunities to join our Maternity team as a permanent or seconded Band 7 labour ward Coordinator.

We are looking for a passionate, motivated, highly skilled Midwife to take on the challenge of coordinating a busy labour ward, working alongside a well-established team of coordinators, midwives and medical staff.
Our band 7 posts offer excellent experience in a progressive environment for experienced midwives with the potential for individuals to develop a full range of leadership skills.
The post holder will be a registered midwife with significant experience in all areas of Maternity care and will need to demonstrate proven clinical skills and abilities.
You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the Maternity Unit during your shift by allocating the workload on intrapartum areas and deploying staff appropriately throughout the Maternity Unit to ensure the safety of all patients.
You will provide leadership by example, monitor standards and support colleagues in their practice. You will have excellent communication and time management skills and be able to balance competing priorities effectively. You will be forward thinking and act as a change agent working with the senior management team to develop the services we provide.

To ensure that all staff are allocated appropriately considering skill mix, workload and complexity of cases, using resources effectively.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team and allied groups
Abides by the legal requirements and statutory rules relating to practice and promotes and maintains standards of professional practice in accordance with NMC Code
Accepts responsibility for personal, professional development and education needs, including the attendance of mandatory in-service training and statutory study days.
Acts in a supervisory, supportive and advisory capacity to all staff on intrapartum areas.
Responsible for maintaining midwifery competencies by acquiring and consolidating the requisite knowledge and skills necessary for safe midwifery practice.
