The project consists of a consortium of four universities in Germany, France and the UK, and is led by Prof Thomas Hartmann from TU Dortmund University. You will work as part of the Liverpool Team which is led by Dr Sebastian Dembski and includes Dr Richard Dunning and Dr Tatiana Moreira de Souza. There will be opportunities to engage with partners from across all four institutions.- You will primarily be carrying out data collection and analysis of the case study component of the research and assist with the academic and professional dissemination of the research findings. This involves desk-based research into the national policy context for urban densification, interviews with national experts on suburban densification from Government and other relevant national organisations. Furthermore, it involves policy analysis and in-depth interviews in six local case studies. You will be assisting in the development of the analytical framework through literature reviews. It is expected that the PDRA will work on the dissemination of findings through the presentation of academic papers at conferences resulting in joint publications with the research team. You will also assist the Liverpool-PI in organisation matters such as attending and hosting project meetings. Depending on affinity of working with large datasets and geospatial analysis, you may work with other project partners on the identification of case studies through geospatial analysis and the development of a dashboard.- You will be working in the Department of Geography and Planning that is part of the School of Environmental Sciences, which integrates the disciplines of Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Ecology, Marine Biology, Oceanography and Planning, thus providing a rich environment for interdisciplinary research and learning and a range of potential collaborations. The School comprises around 85 academic staff, 50 support staff, 50 research staff, 1400 undergraduate students and 250 postgraduate students.**Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.
