**Job summary**:
His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, Sandown Class Mine Hunter Vessels and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logístical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.

RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week

**Job description**:
Leading a small team, the Faslane RNDA OIC is responsible for the issue, storage and receipt of Cryptographic material and equipment in support of the Continuous at Sea Deterrent and other HMNB Clyde and Royal Navy Operations.
- Maintaining and fulfilling the role of Crypto custodian by running a compliant Crypto account on behalf of Naval Base Commander Clyde.
- Supplying all Crypto requirements to the RNDA attached sub-accounts
- Manage all HMNB Clyde, HMS Gannet and RNAD Coulport departments Crypto holders accounts for compliance and assurance checks in accordance with MOD policies.
- Completing an annual 100% muster of all RNDA accounts and sub-accounts.
- Taking on full Crypto accounts including equipment, of paying off Ships / Submarines prior to re-fit or de - commissioning.
- Take the lead in the mandated external audit of the RNDA Crypto account.
- Ensure the correct security procedures, regarding the safe handling of Protectively Marked (PM) publications and Defence Courier Mail are adhered to at all times and that the department meets all courier deadlines
- Participation in the RNDA On-Call officer to provide out-of-hours support to vessels and units.

**Person specification**:

- Previous knowledge and experience of working in a Cryptographic environment either afloat or shore-based and with the policies and regulations governing this (either as a Crypto Custodian or supporting role).
- Previous experience in working in an area where meticulous record keeping is essential.
