**The Company**
Northern Powergrid owns and operates the network that distributes electricity to homes and businesses across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire. Employing over 2,500 people, the business has 8 million customers and supplies 3.9 million propertiesvia 60,000 miles of overhead powerlines and underground cables.
As part of Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE), the energy division of a US owned multinational conglomerate, Northern Powergrid is now embarking on a Digital Transformation which will modernise their systems and processes and enable them to satisfy the needs ofcustomers and stakeholders whilst streamlining the employee experience. Creating a modern workplace which enables employees through the use of systems will be a key outcome of the programme. As a result, they are looking to recruit a number of roles that willbe integral to delivering this programme of work over the coming years, including a Supplier Development Manager.
**The Opportunity**
The successful Supplier Development Manager will ideally be office based 2 days per week in either Penshaw (Tyne & Wear) or Castleford, with the option of 3 days' per week remote-working.
The Supplier Development Manager role forms part of the Commercial / Supply Chain Team and plays a key part in managing the Supplier base, ensuring that Northern Powergrid's supplier base is sufficient to meet the needs of their investment plans, in particularas they head into the new regulatory period.
The commitments which they have made within their ED2 Business Plan are heavily reliant upon the support of their Supply Chains and their related expectations of their Supply Chains, and a key aspect of the Supplier Development Manager role will be to ensurethat their suppliers meet those expectations.
Recent global events have emphasized the need for resilience within their Supply Chains.Planning, monitoring and reacting to such events is a key aspect of this role going forward.
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintaining supplier relationships and providing process, guidance and training to suppliers.
- Understanding the needs of the investment plan and ensuring that the Northern Powergrid's supply base has sufficient capacity, capability, and resilience against supply chain risks.
- Monitoring the supplier base to ensure it is sufficient to meet the requirements of the Investment Plan
- Supplier relationship management
- Process guidance and onboarding of suppliers
- Training and guiding key internal stakeholders in key Procurement and tendering activities
- Supplier risk management
- Mentoring Buyers

**About You**
The successful Supplier Development Manager will have/be:

- Proven track record in Procurement within a regulated Utility environment or Public Sector environment desirable
- Accustomed to delivering results to deadline, mitigating against and managing supply chain risk and disruptions
- Resilient with strong influencing and confident communication skills - accustomed to proactively engaging with and challenging key Senior stakeholders
- Proven track record in documenting and developing Procurement process and procedures
- Accustomed to building relationships swiftly with multifunctional senior stakeholders
- Commercially focused, proactive with a strong eye for detail
- CIPS qualifications beneficial but not essential
