An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Therapy Department Activities Team. This post is a role that involves working with older adults in an inpatient setting through providing person centered activities and groups to improve health and well being. It is part of East Ham Care Center Inpatient Therapies Team which consists of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Activity Therapy Assistants and an Otago instructor.

To assist the Activities manager with the provision of therapeutic activities services at East Ham care Center Fothergill and Sally Sherman ward. Your role will include contributing to the smooth and efficient day to day running of the activities, events, group sessions and individual sessions under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist Activities Manager.
You will assist in the planning and delivery process of the provision of evidenced based activities sessions for both wards. Additionally you will work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and families to devise life history profiles to support with meeting their care and therapeutic needs.

- To assist the Activities Manager in the implementation and development of varied and cultural relevant programmes for service users within East Ham care Centre.
- To be aware of the Mental Capacity Act and the importance of safeguarding the Older Adults. Clinical - Gain and maintain knowledge and skills based around Activities work, including a range of Activities Interventions.
- To produce detailed profile whilst assessing client’s needs, and assisting the Activities Manager in delivering an appropriate individual person centred programme
- To assist in the delivery process of the provision of evidenced based Activities sessions.
- To liaise with Service Users relatives/carers to provide a holistic approach to the care of the individual
- To attend weekly MDT meetings and feedback on service users Activities attendance Administration
- To ensure service users profiles are completed within 48 hours of admission
- To assist in the planning and delivery of organised activities events at East Ham Care Centre
- To assist in maintaining a clean, safe and tidy Activities Department, including Activities specialist equipment.
- To maintain the correct level of supplies in the Activities Department Leadership
- To accommodate and enable the potential growth areas within the department
- To assist in the induction of new volunteers
- To supervise volunteers under the direction of the Activities manager whilst they are working in the department.
- To assist in the induction and supervision of students/apprentices on work experience placement programmes Performance and Quality
- To undertake mandatory training as required by the service and other relevant training programmes identified by the post
- To adhere to the Trust Infection Control Policy at all times
- To take part in the yearly Individual Performance review and regular one-to-one supervision sessions Communication
- To promote good working relationship with all disciplines working in the trust
- To attend Activities Department staff meetings and other service related meetings as required
- To maintain Activities interventions in relevant medical records in accordance with local policies and Activities specifications.
- To liaise with and feedback to Therapy Team staff, including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist and Specialist Exercise Instructor
- To assist in equal sharing of workload and provide limited administrative support
