The post holder will be responsible for the effective management and development of prisoners within the context of National Performance framework and Grampian’s Learning Environment. They will support prisoners in gaining appropriate nationally recognised qualifications aimed at improving their employment prospects on release.

**Responsibilities**:
Deliver required certified training to meet targets set for the establishment in accordance with the Performance Contract.

Effectively train and instruct individuals in the theory and practice required to achieve the standards set by the relevant examining body or training organisation.

Maintain security and discipline in the workplace by monitoring of tool issue, performing rub down searches and searching of the workplace meeting security standards set by National Policy.

Ensure effective use of resources: budget, attendance numbers, wages, time, materials, tooling and equipment within functional area.

Ensure effective maintenance of machinery and equipment is carried out in accordance with regulations.

Maintenance of a safe and healthy compliant working environment through regular and effective Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.

Qualifications Requirements

Served a recognised Painting & Decorating apprenticeship and achieved an accredited qualification in painting and Decorating (City & Guilds or SVQ equivalent).

Achieved the A1 (D32) Assessor Award or willing to work towards.

Experience Requirements

Experience of delivering training in an industrial environment.
**DESIRABLE**

Knowledge Skills Requirements

Knowledge of current certification provided by SQA. In particular, National Progression Awards pertinent to Painting and Decorating.

Awareness of Health & Safety at Work Fire regulations and COSHH (Including Risk Assessments and SSOW).

Effective communicator across a range of media, with the ability assess individual’s skill levels through observation, instruction and discussion.
